Scorching Bay Beach

Sheltered from the northerly wind, this popular inner-harbour beach has a large grassed area and is great for swimming.

Lyall Bay Beach is very popular with both surfers and dog owners.

This bay is good for picnics and swimming. It used to be an air force base and now has a cafe and other facilities.

Te Raekaihau Point is undergoing restoration and is good for short walks, rock pools and snorkelling.

Worser Bay Beach is a large sheltered beach, ideal for swims and picnics. There's seasonal access for dogs off-leash.

Hataitai Beach is a small beach often used by the locals for swimming.

Balaena Bay is sheltered from the northerly and southerly winds and is used for swimming by the local residents.

Breaker Bay is a small sandy cove that forms part of the Oruaiti Reserve.
